YOUTH ON THE MOVE debate with a member of the European Commission
On 17 September in Brussels will take place an open debate concerning an initiative of the European Commission “Youth on the Move” promoting mobility among young people and the acquisition of new skills that will increase their availability in the labour market. The debate will be held by the Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou.
Anyone interested can take part in the debate in every corner of the world - it will be web-streamed live. Commissioner Vassiliou will answer questions from the people gathered there as well as from the people watching debate on-line.
"Youth on the Move” is one of the seven major UE initiatives in the Europe 2020 growth strategy, which is aimed at creating in the coming 10 years a new economy based on the knowledge and innovations. Detailed aims of the Europe 2020 strategy concern the increase of employment rate, the increase of expenses on the research and development, the increase of the number of people with higher education, the decrease of the number of people at risk of poverty and the realisation of the EU plans concerning the climate. The initiative “Youth on the Move” will contribute to the realisation of these aims through the improvement of the quality of teaching on all levels and making labour market more available to young people.
